A few 5.0 plus in Canada too. Hmmm... could there be a building pressure?

I’m 37 and lived in Los Angeles my whole life, and have felt all our earthquakes.
The ones today and yesterday were the first I’ve ever felt where it was more of a roll than a jolt. These last 2 quakes felt like being on a cruise ship in rough seas. They made me dizzy and a few of my friends made the same comments. I’ve never felt quakes like this before.
To be honest, the quakes where there are sudden jolts are significantly scarier.
The 1994 earthquake was horrifying.

Might have something to do with the depth of the quake (half mile) and terrain. Lots of rolling desert.

https://quakes.globalincidentmap.com/I post this every earthquake thread, someone always asks for it. Good site to track all the aftershocks, etc.

@lastquake on Twitter is a good follow as well.
That fault is going off tonight. Aftershocks all around Ridgecrest.
3.0-5.0 variety.

How does that not crack the frick out of the concrete. And I thought we had it bad with foundation issues in New Orleans.
Also the big one would have to register over 8

The buildings and flex in the roads and concrete are made for such things.

7.1 definitely qualifies as “a big one”, although I believe the expectation of “the” big one is something of a similar magnitude on the San Andreas fault.

Someone just ask about the navy sitting off something that may cause this.
