Kudos to you and your family. I know back in 2006, hearing my parents on the other end of that phone line meant everything. The next 3 months were pure hell but it’ll be worth it. Get ready to write plenty of letters

Damn, brings back memories. My parents didn't answer so I called my grandmother. He's probably hating life right about now. They kept them awake for the first 2 days then tell them the FBI is there and they need to confess any crimes or medical problems. Over half the room got up and spoke up. I didn't move lol

Congrats on raising a quality young man Judge. The Corps is being very selective right now on who they allow to enlist, so he's obviously made good decisions thus far in his young life. He will be surrounded by some of the best warriors on the planet, and it truly is a brotherhood. He's in good hands. The title that he is earning will benefit him greatly for the rest of his life. Job well done.

Having been in your son’s position in San Diego in 1989, I could NOT agree more with this advice. Nothing beats the Drill Instructor calling out your name during mail call.

This right here. Mail call is awesome when you get letters from home. Mail call sucks though when he hand out the last letter and your name hasn’t been called.

And Along with letters, send care packages.

Youre kid got fricked by the corps twice. Best thing is that his career or time can only get better from here or out.

I loved it. Of course I was only there for a month but fell in love with the lack of humidity.

His son is probably only there for school and not as a permanent duty station.
