Also, barricades are fine for parades where there are no throws. With throws, people are jumping, reaching, etc., which would create an unsafe condition near the barriers. Not to mention the many "throws" that are actually handed to people. How's that gonna happen if people can't get near the float?

You can get knocked down by the float if you are in the hitch area and it moves forward.
Those floats have a low skirt and the wheels are set back.
You have to crawl under to get crushed.
This was stupidity on the crushee’s fault.

Basically my whole life I watched most of the parades on st Charles near canal. Barricades are there. It doesn’t really affect too much as far as the throws go but it blows if you are trying to move around. Can’t cross and just need to plan accordingly.
