I bought some of these two weeks ago. I’m surprised they’re still around.

I dont believe in getting procedure for something that isnt causing any trouble

Do you also wait until you have the flu before getting a flu shot?

How about waiting to get in a wreck before getting car insurance?

Somethings are much better to deal with BEFORE they become a problem.

pssst, try getting all four of dem bad boys removed at the same time then have the bottom two swell to the size of lemons due abscesses a week later, go back to the oral surgeon and get the stitches cut open and abscesses lanced and left open to drain...

Is this how people in Alabama know it's time to get their wisdom teeth removed, when they start cracking and breaking off little chunks in their mouth?

I pulled one of mine right before christmas while sitting on the couch.

Why? I went to get a piece of popcorn from between my teeth and I heard it squeak in the socket. Rocked it back and forth for half an hour or so and all but one smidgen of root popped out

What is dry socket? Just curious. Like what is happening in my mouth if I got dry socket?

Slow healing socket due to the blood clot not forming or being washed away prematurely (Smoking, drinking through a straw, vigorous swishing/spitting, hot drink, etc). Thus as someone posted earlier, the socket/bone is then exposed for some time before it can fill in, whereas otherwise the clot would have sealed it and formed the matrix for reformation of bone and quicker resultant gum coverage. Exposed bone/nerve endings hurts and without proper circulation and healing becomes a haven for infection.

I got all four of mine taken out 7 years ago when I was in college. I drank and ripped cigs 8 hours after the surgery and over the weekend and didn’t get dry socket.

Some folks are just lucky...not everyone gets one even if they don't follow the rules. I was riding on a float in a Mardi Gras parade once about 6 hours after removing 4 wisdom teeth. Sure enough, that same dude was jumping around, screaming his fool head off for me to throw him some beads. Did just fine.

However, don't push your luck.
