just got contact lens. Is headache/dry eye normal ?

You'll get used to them a little more, hopefully. Been wearing them for 15 years or so now... Dryness can come and go. If they don't get any better, it's a classic symptom of aids.

I could see the headache being more normal than the dryness. I've worn contacts for probably 15 years now. It still take me a minute to get adjusted to them every morning since I take mine out every night. I really only have problems when it's really dusty or windy. That'll dry them out in a hurry. Only other thing that bothers me is they feel glued to my eye when I wake up after I've dozed off into a nap.

Sounds like you could do a better job cleaning both the lens and your hands before putting the lens in. Also, keep a drop of solution on the lens as you put it in. this worked wonders for me.
Your eyes and headaches will adjust with time. It's wildly different from wearing glasses in terms of visual experience for me. Switching between the two isn't easy and takes some adjusting.

It is also, unfortunately, possible that you do have particularly sensitive eyes and can't tolerate contacts. Since it's isolated to one eye, this seems less likely. Most likely it's poor cleaning with unclean hands (soap and water before contacts every time. And rinse thoroughly. Don't touch aftershave of hand sanitizer of anything alcohol-based before putting contacts in) or possibly just a bad/defective lens (had this issue once in 13 or so years of personal experience. I was a 2clear Toric lens wearer up until recently, if that makes any difference)

This is the worst part of wearing contacts for me. Learn to rub the contact on your sclera if you don't already know this trick: hold your eyelids open, take a finger and place it on your lens just as if you had just put it in (I don't specify handedness or which finger to use because it's so variable from person to person), but once there, look medially and draw the lens laterally and then just rub it on the white part of your eye. It doesn't hurt at all, removes debris trapped under the lens so it won't damage your cornea, and stimulates tear production.

Also, screw autocorrect. I typed "tear" four times while it was autocorrected to "year".


A more relevant also: honorable mention for worst thing about contacts:
Driving car with air conditioner vent situated on face near the end of the day
Any situation where it's windy (boat, bike, running on windy day, etc) after a long day of already wearing contacts.

Allergy season. Contacts hate it. Bad time to start wearing them

Don't sleep with them on, you'll have red eyes for a day.

It could be the way you clean them at night. I know my siblings have to use the clear care stuff that comes with a special container.

A normal occurrence.

I don't wear contacts, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
