Aren’t those companies that do the photo tickets not even in the city of NO?

If I remember correctly, NOLA police actually does their own because of the gun shot cameras and such.

Would they ever check the super dome garages for people with unpaid tickets? Or is it strictly on the street

Strictly street as far as I know.

That's ridiculous, there should be a 5 mph grace at minimum.

there used to be a 6 mph grace window on the speed cameras in NOLA

but then... sometime around February... Mayor Cantrell (very, very quietly) ordered that they be reset to trigger at the actual speed limit

the change is not about safety... otherwise the Mayor's office would've put out a release saying "on this date, speed cameras will be reset to trigger at the posted speed limit" but since it's just about money... they didn't put out any kind of notification to announce the change

New Orleans Advocate story on the change

they changed it to give more tickets out since they only boot if you have 3 now

I'm actually cool with it after some thinking

Shouldn't it be 1mph gives you a ticket?

maybe it does?

but I think it's 4mph over just for margin of error purposes

Contest it and argue that the practice is unconstitutional while also demanding to see evidence of the calibration of the radar camera

Extremely unlikely.

I checked the city website and it shows I owed a total of $300 in unpaid tickets. Whenever I parked in NOLA I would use paid parking or take my plate off. Pain in the arse.

I just went to ABC Title on Vets, got a vanity plate for $61. In and out in 15 minutes. I got the Whitetail Deer plate, she said that was the cheapest one. They did charge a $18 convenience fee, but that was worth it not to have to put up with the nimrods at the DMV.

What margin of error?

Superdome private property so off limits

that's why you can park in your driveway and be safe

City of New Orleans doesn't get to decide what's civil and what's criminal, that pesky Constitution again. Try driving 20+ mph I've
the speed limit and tell the arresting officer, "sorry sir, TD told me this is a civil matter!"

Claiming traffic enforcement isn't a criminal offense is absurd.

Also, the tickets were reviewed by a third party monitoring company (Anytime Solutions LLC, staffed by off duty NOPD officers instead of real cops), confirming it's just a money grab.
