Pay it and stop speeding through town and endangering everyone around you. It’s posted at 20mph for a reason
The 5 mph grace thing is dumb. If it was safe to go 25 then they’d post it at 25

So how do they have the authority to demand money from citizens of NOLA for speeding in NOLA?
No idea, but it's pretty fricking annoying when the ticket comes from an office in Arizona.

I’ll speed through your front yard.

They don't have the authority, the Sixth Amendment still applies everywhere in the United States and the government can't outsource a public duty to a private company.
Anyone who pays is too dumb to keep their money anyway and deserves to pay their own personal stupid tax.

Not sure about that. How do these jails run by private companies stay open?

Wasn't this addressed during the illegal speed traps? If memory serves me correctly, any speeding ticket revenue for tickets under five mph goes to the state instead of the municipality.

Lots of puckered buttholes driving around NOLA now, especially through intersections.
lol

Hmm...

Why they keep it a civil matter.
They also have a deputized keyboard officer signing off on each ticket.

You're doing it wrong.
You don't go in and say " hey, I'd like a new standard plate"
You go not to the DMV but to a notary that handles plates.
You walk up to the counter and say. "I'd like that plate with the bear on it" (or the dolphin, or lsu, or the Saints, or any of the other vanity plates )
You walk out with new plate.
Once this plate is flagged, repeat process.
Your switching to a vanity plate which is allowed anytime.
They have high schools, sports, hunting all kinds of options.

Thanks, I'm going try this.
About how much does a new plate cost?

You need to pay it... New Orleans' intentionally inclusive Mayor Cantrell will new new funds to cover the gratuity she is spending on her birthday week fact finding mission to Cuba!
J/k, you know she doesn't tip.
But she still needs your money. Next year's trip to South Africa is going to be spensive.

Have never paid. Nothing will ever happen

I’ve gotten several. Speeding, red light.
This was two years ago.
I never paid them.
No boot. No credit score decrease. No flags on license. Only threatening letters for the city and then attorneys.
Don’t pay them.
They circumvent the criminal law process by trying to go at it from the civil side and that dog won’t hunt.

Speed limits are posted lower bc they know people will speed no matter what the limit is. It’s actually safe for 30 when it’s posted at 20

Just to add, of course it was in the garden district and not in the ghetto. Shocker.
There ain't enough people with cars in the ghetto to speed and pay the fine.

This topic has come up a number of times in the last two weeks. If it's your first or second ticket, toss it and don't pay it. The mayor and city council surprisingly passed an ordinance in November saying that they can't boot your car unless you have three or more outstanding tickets.
For those that live outside of New Orleans, you can trash them. But if you live here or work/park here, they most definitely do boot the hell out of people and anyone who has ever gotten one knows what a pain in the a$$ it is and how time-consuming it is in addition to being expensive. But again, they can't do that until you have 3 or more tickets now.

Would they ever check the super dome garages for people with unpaid tickets? Or is it strictly on the street
