I hate you saw that. If he has road rash on his face then he wasn't wearing a full face helmet.

This rider survived a head on with a truck and has the helmet cam footage to prove it.

While he was lucky to survive the horrific accident, Lopez didn’t exactly walk away, either. He suffered a broken femur, tibia, fibula, ulna and humerus at the elbow.

I've seen two vehicle ejection fatalities. They don't ever leave your mind and definitely have an impact on you. This is the part of the job that police/firefighters do that we don't give them enough credit for. It would be terrible to deal with that day in and day out.

Ya know I'm all about individual liberties, I really really am, but I'm shocked that helmet laws aren't in place everywhere. Moving from Louisiana to Texas that's probably been the biggest thing I have noticed on the road daily is just how many bikers choose not to wear a helmet.

If you want to greatly increase your risk of death from a relatively minor accident then okay, but something like a grisly fatality on the road really impacts a lot more people than just the rider.

I have TWO friends who have been the first person to see the aftermath (one was in the car behind the accident and pulled over to help, and one was the not at fault driver of the other vehicle involved) and both had PTSD like symptoms and ended up getting counseling/still carrying the images and experience long after it happened.

Just really really sucks.

I was a company first person on site after one of our drivers was involved in a fatality involving a motorcycle. It was in the affluent Atlanta neighborhood of Buckhead. Our ready mix truck driver was beginning to turn left at a traffic light and a black girl on a crotch rocket approaching his rear was in lala land. She was going very fast and ended up skidding under his left rear tires. A concrete truck weighs about 35,000 lbs empty and about 70,000 lbs with a full load. It was a full load that was on the way to a job site. Wheels rolled over her and crushed her. I was there before the police and ambulance. Pretty bad thing to have seen.

Motorcycles are just not a good idea.

I have seen far too many examples of motorcyclists who are not interested in remaining alive. Riding on people's bumpers, weaving in and out of traffic, zooming to ungodly speeds, etc, etc. If I am supposed to "watch out for motorcycles" shouldn't they also watch out for themselves? It's already an uneven playing field if they get in a wreck, why add to the odds of not surviving by doing stupid shite?

I agree with what you are saying. Seems as if these crotch rocket riders are the main ones I see driving like fools.

Yes, not the Harley guys. I don't recall ever seeing any of them acting like that.

Again, no one deserves to die just because you ride a motorcycle. But don't tempt fate by doing stupid shite.

I've ridden for 26 years, never a drop, never an accident. I am selling my BMW 1200RS to go to a sidecar rig.

When to ride, where to ride, and how to ride are very important choices.

Love the guys that drive along the shoulder when traffic is at a standstill. Almost want to fling my door open as I watch them come up in my side mirror. I refrain though I don't want mess up my door.

Why not?

Could be because I don't like people breaking the law. Just because you are on a motorcycle doesn't give you the right to go pass cars stuck in traffic. Never a cop around either. I am so MAD. I know.

Hater for what? Cause I hate someone who breaks the law. Didn't say I wanted to kill anyone. :)

I would be willing to bet most motorcycle riders are of below average intelligence. They drive like bats out of hell and most of them are probably just abnormally high testosterone young males who don't have a clue. They get weeded out of the gene pool pretty quickly due to elevated hormones and below average intelligence. Not politically correct but true.

Absolutely not true. Motorcyclists are some of the best people you will ever meet. Good men. You are truly uninformed.
