there’s nothing wrong with posting and reading satire, don’t be silly. it’s okay to laugh from time to time. that being said, i wouldn’t even bother reading the comment section in those articles.

The same test that we've been doing tests for the variant. It just can't distinguish between the two. Not sure why you would need to know. My work will send your sample off for sequencing for research if you want. They aren't going to tell you though. So if you really want a 2nd test for no reason let me know.

I think CDC et al. are a bunch of idiots, but it's not hard to figure out there is no conspiracy going on with this one. One does not need to be a geneticist to follow what's happening.
They can't sequence the genetic material at the site, they can just tell you that you do or don't have covid. Doing that doesn't require them to sequence the virus's genome.
They send the positive samples off-site after the fact so they can be sequenced so they can understand the spread of the different variants.
That's why they can't tell you if you have delta when you go in to get tested.

The clinics aren’t sending samples off for further testing. It’s simply positive or negative
The hospitals may be testing for the variants but the clinics are not.

I don’t know this for a fact, but I expect that someone is doing statistical sampling and extrapolating to get the percentage of each variant.
It could be that the OP is so benighted that he doesn’t realize that the Delta Variant would still pop positive on the local clinics’ covid tests.
