the middle bell curve takes on NFTs is truly fascinating lol

my read is that most of these people are too scared of change and are also incapable of using the tech.

easier for them to cope than to actually explore the space

It's a byte of data represented by a picture. You only own the byte though, not the picture. It just represents your byte and usually the picture is used without the artist permission.

In other words, its the most amazing investment opportunity you will ever have and you better get in now so you don't get left out when they are really valuable. Don't be a sucker and miss out!

Even after being told why their opinion is wrong, they dont care. Old man stuck in his ways type of thinking.

Its a crazy space where I think you actually need to dive in personally and research to know wtf is going on

Look at the post above

you corrected that one guy 3x in this thread and he still kept repeating the same nonsense lol

and i agree the best way to learn is just to dive in, its still evolving

But what makes that data worth anything?

We can just take the word of guys who have explored the space like Jones

i agree with that. 99% will be worthless. 1% will be very valuable though just any other artwork or sports card

Would you rather me be some sunshine pumper saying its the best thing ever and dont talk of the downsides?

Ive clearly stated that the vast majority are going to be worthless, the space is extremely risky, and people are losing their asses left and right. If you were reading my posts in here, you wouldnt be buying nfts.

So yea you can pretty much take my word for it

it's amazing how many people make some money at a job and buy a nice house, start a business, inherit a farm, etc., become completely self-satisfied, and then completely disregard and denigrate everything that's "new"

personally i don't frick around with NFTs but i'm aware that i don't know what i don't know

I’ve been reading your posts and I think you’re right in your analysis. It just doesn’t seem super promising. Crypto isn’t going away, but this is admittedly a niche market that is going to need broad societal acceptance and understanding of the concept for there to be lasting value.

I don’t know if they have the hook yet to get Joe and Jane Citizen on board.

Except I could sell that today for a nice amount of money.
Have you done this yet?

Have you sold an NFT for more than you purchased it for?

What is the average increase in value here?

As people have stated, the percentage of NFTs that will hold value will be extremely small, as we already see with art.

And much like physical art, the value will only exist due to significant media and public perception of value.

This rampant “buy anything because it exists as an NFT” concept is insane.

indeed. managing information asymmetry is always a challenge

there are things i have a blind spot for that others are experts in and vice-versa.

its like the guy from alaska who comes on here weekly thinking hes an expert on new orleans when he hasnt visited there in a decade. like wtf is wrong with you lol

do i think nfts are the future? yes. do i think most will be worthless? also yes. both of these can be true.

coachella is minting nfts this week for lifetime access, among other things; those trends are not going to go away.

This wont at all. Lets take fine art for an example. That is completely a niche market and its bigger than ever. The average pleb, you and I, on the street will never enter this market along with 99.9% of the other plebs walking around here. its not going away.

Crypto is here to stay and the average Joe and Jane are on board without them even knowing it.

At worst, the nfts are a parasite on the crypto space.

I think the lack of utility outside the value is the biggest issue.

It seems to be a risky investment that lacks the tangible value that other collectibles have.

i actually believe nfts will be bigger than shitcoins someday

with nfts, you can stake and earn yield BUT you also have a pretty picture to show your friends etc

nfts will be the catalyst that brings normies into the space. theres just not a killer app to onboard everyone.

I didnt sell that egg. Havent even put it on the marketplace. It would go for 15-25k easily today if I did. The team has future plans in place that Im will to take the risk on holding it.

I bought/minted 25 of the degenerate apes. Sold a few in the 40 sol range and have over 20 left. The floor right now is 65 sol.

I bought/minted this for 6 sol(sol was $40) and sold it for 250 Sol(sol is currently $110).

Fwiw, I treat crypto as money I dont need or have. I will never base life decisions on money that goes in or out of crypto. Its purely fluff for lack of a better word
