Had a boat parked near us on the lake on day with a jet engine in it.
I'm not going to lie...the sound of it starting up was awesome.
Probably James Branton's boat.

Those 928's were special cars in their day.

Don’t really see the point though, at all.
I guess the owner could argue that the engine will run on just about anything combustible, but that’d be a stretch.
He did it for the same reason that people climb mountains and frick fat chicks: because they can.
If he had fun doing it, more power to him.

USed to see a turbine powered off-shore racing style boat that I believe was Copeland's in Destin Harbor a few times.
IIRC - the boat had I/O or outboard for puttering in/out of the dock and harbor.
Sounded sweet when both turbines spun up...
ETA - this would have been late 90s I think....

It's not always as simple as some make it out to be. Especially into something with zero GM DNA.
Yes if you want to lead the charge on a LS swap. But, 240sx, 300zx, Miatas, some Volvos, some jaguars have kits that make it a lot easier. But imo it isn't something you want to pay a shop to do vs doing it yourself. A square body Volvo wagon LS swapped would be the shite though.

300hp is right about where the Law of Diminishing Returns kicks in for a car that size. You see bigger numbers nowadays because cars have become heavy as frick. IDK about a turbine-driven car, but a 300hp gasoline 928 would absolutely smoke some of today's "fast" cars in a road race.
LOL, every man thinks he is a car guy, very few actually are.
The last 928 had a 345hp 16v 5.4L and the 0-60 was 5.5 seconds. My daily does it in half that and will do it on a gravel road. The curb weight is almost the same and they were made by the same company.

Hemmings is the place to look, you can' set up a email alert when one comes up for sale.
Pretty rare, $60-80K for a really nice one.

I do linger too long on the FB marketplace ads for ran when parked rovers. The 5sp discos get snapped up pretty quick though.

It is a Boeing engine. They better double check the doors.

This is so factually incorrect.
It would struggle against modern V6 engines, and be crushed by V8s. Almost any "sport" sedan would kill it on the track as well. 1980s tech does not hold up well.
