That’s really sad. It crashed into a dormitory used by doctors also.

HORROR: Air India flight AI 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London's Gatwick Airport, crashed into a residential area five minutes after taking off.
There were 242 passengers and crew. 169 from India, 53 from Britain, 7 from Portugal, 1 from Canada

I wouldn’t think there would be any survivors from the large explosion, but there are videos and pictures that appear to show the tail section intact (albeit laying partially inside a building). Random Indian Twitter accounts are posting a video supposedly showing two survivors being wheeled into the hospital, but they could easily be from someone injured from the building or nearby, if related at all. Also saw a couple of random accounts that say that the plane crashed into what appears to be the Indian equivalent of a medical school, in which case the casualties may be much worse than it initially appears.

Im pretty sure they were supposed to go up.
You should call Air India to give them this information. It could save investigators a lot of time.

Flightradar isn’t the best source but it looks like they took off from the middle of the runway.
According to airliners.net, that is a common glitch on FR at that airport.

Not for airline nuts. If I was near an airport I would loved to get pics and videos of a Dreamliner taking off.

Yeah, the area it crashed in makes me believe the amount of casualties will be a lot higher than just passengers on the plane. Fully loaded with fuel when it crashed is shitshow material

How you have two pilots and ground control agree to that takeoff boggles the mind. Too bad they don't have all ATC interactions on Youtube like we do. When I looked at the airport satellite view, I presume they took that same taxiway but took off to the Northeast, but they found a way to be even dumber about it. Although that was at least in the direction of two hospitals.

It's not in their script. They'll put you on hold until you hang up and call again.

Boeing is so screwed.
Does Boeing supply the pilots as well now?

Clearly it's early in the investigation but the plane likely would be going more nose down in a suicide situation right after take off. It looks like the flaps were not configured but again it's early in the investigation and so far only that 1 video. The plane looks like it was just falling out of the sky.

That would’ve been the nicest suicide hijacking of all time. Gracefully crashed.
