If the races of ALL parties in this case were reversed and it got the exact same amount of national media, and a white judge sat on her podium expressing what her thoughts would be if she were the victim and said "...a group of racist cops looking to do a cracker..." , she'd likely be out of a job because of the outrage.

So you're saying this black woman cannot be a fair and impartial judge because the public would react differently if the case were different?

Then the judge did what she was supposed to do. It's difficult to understand why you are criticizing the judges ability to uphold the law when you agree that she handed down an appropriate sentence and justice was served in this case.
I'm criticizing her for her lack of composure and professionalism.

Nope. I'm saying that my opinion is what many opinions would likely be if everything were equal and opposite.
ETA: This hypothetical white judge I spoke of would be equally wrong and unprofessional imo.

So you don't like her based on a hypothetical reaction she and/or the public would have if the scenario were different.

No shite sherlock. The officers deserved punishment. I made that clear.

I don't like her bc she's an unprofessional bitch.
Edit:
I won't delete what I said here bc I'm not gonna take the cowardly route but I will say, maybe calling her a bitch is a bit much. I should have just said unprofessional.

My feelings are based on actions, not race.

My thoughts: Cop was wrong, way wrong...could have received a stronger sentence imo; however, that does not excuse the judge from being professional. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Cop deserves everything he gets. He is a racist. The judge came off with racist tendencies as well. That was not needed or professional.
Appreciate cops, big supporter, but this guy was dirty!

I'm sure there is more to the story, but I hear her calling them racists. What was racist about the video? There were races involved, but is there some backstory that suggested the cops acted that way because of racism?

I'm not sure why it is assumed that a judge would be so stupid as to make this about race without any relevance. In other words, yes race played a role in this case big time.

the judge quoted the officer(s) directly when she said "do a n*****"...which is WHY SHE SAID IT. the point was to show, by party admission (eg. the admission of the defendant...which is a FACT in the case), that the beating was in FACT about race, and how disgusting that is.
she was mocking him...rightfully so.
what she did is very typical of judges at sentencing.
yet there are those here who think that her direct quote of the defendant's admission is evidence of her own character. if you're one who came to this conclusion, please crawl back under your log...

Lots of people make lots of things about racism that aren't. It's how Al and Jesse stay in business, and MSN stay in business.
