Why did anyone want to stop a development? Wouldnt that be good for Central?

Pretty sure I know some people involved in this development. Not sure why the pushback from the residents though. Central is exploding, and people just need to accept that this growth is going to continue.

one of the lots was purchased by a black family, so some local citizens took immediate action

One of the plaintiffs ran for mayor and lost. Probably has something to do with him being a sore loser.

I live in central. Ive heard a couple reasons why. One is traffic. The location they chose is at the busiest intersection in central that has heavy traffic every day from central residents and LPers commuting. Two is that central schools are already pretty crowded and are ill equipped to handle a heavy influx of new students.

I live in Central do not want a 250+ unit apartment complex that is supposed to be built in front of an "upscale" neighborhood who wants to drive through 250 apartments to get to there $400k house? Usually apartments bring the trash

Maybe some of these folks will know how to use commas and periods.

i live in central and agree this TND is a bad idea for the area at this time. that being said, they've fricked up that community beyond repair and we're gonna GTFO of BR all together pretty soon.

We're discussing where to flee to at the next rally. See you there, but don't forget your hood this time.

Geez. I have become largely immune to the odd self hate this board has for Baton Rouge proper. I had no idea that now extends to surrounding communities. Pretty soon it will be cool and edgy to trash the entire state on TD, the irony of the board being a LSU site notwithstanding.

out building the infrastructure by leaps and bounds and the politics out there have made for a very divisive community. will be hard to get important things done moving forward because there are 2 political factions that hate each other and air their dirty laundry on facebook.

before the current mayor there was a group that hated the previous mayor and swore that he had to be embroiled in corruption. well that was unfounded but that group got their guy elected at the next election and he and his council bait and switched the community that wanted to stay kind of rural by opening the floodgates to developers

both sides are in serious need of brain cells

there are alot of people/families who have lived out there for a long time that believe they should have some say so in how the city is run and planned but they dont and they are mad

and yes it's all on facebook. it's all quite comical

I would laugh but I know of at least two pending cases locally where social media posts led to homicides. People need to pull their heads out of the Internet. The irony of me posting this online isn't lost on me. But killing someone over a post? Nah.
