It’s not profound. And neither is that the lockdown has been bullshite. But you have to have studies like this and show the dumbasses using data. I get it’s hard for some to understand because it’s not based in emotions.

I am not saying this is exactly what happened, its just a theory.. But the government (in general) are in contact with the media (in general). If a congressman who wants a certain agenda pushed and he/she has some type of relationship with someone in the media. Who is to say that congressman doesn't contact that media member and give them some info on something else, but they need them, to push a certain agenda..

In other words, I am just saying that politicians could get the media to over react. But anything is possible.. Who knows?

That’s a little misleading. All SIFI banks took additional capital, regardless of need, to prevent a run on the weak banks that needed the funding.

Dimon tried to refuse the funds, but was basically told he couldn’t.

They repaid it on the first day they were allowed too.

The US Govt. was paid $795 million in dividends during the time JPM had the money.

Nice little profitable investment for the govt.

JP Morgan is the most well ran banking organization in the world. They are the reason the entire world didn't completely collapse on 2008

Just to play devils advocate why is a bank doing a study on virus transmission (I know they have a stake in wanting the economy to continue to repair and stimulate) and what gives them expertise in this arena?

Is it any crazier than having epidemiologists make huge economic decisions?

If epidemiologists can decide that the public health rewards of a shutdown outweigh the economic risks, I don’t see an issue with economists making the counter argument.

Just wait two weeks, OP. We need to stay inside until there is a vaccine. If it saves one life, it's worth it. Have some empathy!

I don't understand this mindset that one party is responsible for everything bad. Its win at all cost. Officials from both sides are not above doing something the other side is willing to do. They don't care about your best interest, they only care about special interest.. Because special interest has the money to persuade.

They care even less about you if you are already in their back pocket. That's why I think it is stupid for states to be loyal to one party election after election.

Let's say something happens and a democrat president is on office. It involves 2 states and he/she has to make a decision on which state to help out the most. One state is blue the other state went red last election, but it was very close and the previous presidential election that state went blue. Who is the president going to help? The state he/she knows is in his back pocket or the one that he/she wants to gain for re-election?

The best system is keeping politicians in check regardless of their party.

There really hasnt been conclusive proof that this shutdown has done anything besides destroy many small businesses.

It still amazes me how big box stores stayed open and crowded and airports never closed, but the new little coffee shop and pizza joint that had just opened up by my house had to close. I could go to Walmart but not a small restaurant.

Flu season ends in the summer partly because heat and humidity kills the virus but the main reason is because the weather is finally good and people go outside and spread out. The flu spreads in the winter because everyone is cramped up inside together.

Locking everyone into their home and only letting them go to the packed store was literally the worst possible way to fight a virus.
