Either way, the only effect on people who normally do tip well is that we will likely see reduced quality of service
On the bright side, maybe the higher prices will keep out some of the non-tipping trash which will make for a better dining environment, aside from the subpar service

That's what a lot of people do not get. The cost of labor has to be paid for by the guests either way. I'm all for this though. You'll see the quality of your employees go up. The average person wants a guaranteed rate instead of the idea of hustling for more tips. People lack serious hustle.

I tip well, but the kids at Joe's do not know me well enough to expect that and serve accordingly. You must be a regular there.

I refuse to believe the average waitress at your Hooter's would be happier with $12-$14 an hour over what they make now.

Last I heard (a couple years ago), the BR Joe's was dead last in the company going by a variety of metrics out of 130+ restaurants nationwide. There was a time they were in the 10-20 range, but as I've mentioned, managers mean everything. They lost that core that had kept it together for so long, and it dropped off a cliff...
It really wasn't a bad gig when I worked there, and the numbers I posted were not "inflated" as suggested. The most popular items on the menu were the $19-$25 crab dishes and they were rarely shared unless it was an addon to different entrees. Granted, you would have tables come in for the Fish & Shrimp which cost $10.99, but even the low tabs were normally in the $30-35 range for 2 people. The good tabs would easily reach $100 on a table of four quite normally. It would be easy to reach $1200-1300 in total food sales on a normal weekend shift and even after the 3% tipshare, all you had to do was average a 13% tip all night to walk with $120-$130.
