IA departments that do operational and financial audits absolutely add value to the bottom line of a company. If you don't want to call that "revenue generator" whatever, but it's the same thing.
Understood. That’s all I did. And we did our best to present to the ceo and others the monetary value of what we did. It’s simply tough to put an actual number on it as a whole

I’m not devaluing anything about internal audit. It’s extremely valuable to any company.

Where do you live? What kind of work are you most experienced with? Are you looking for a senior auditor role?

Senior managers in Houston aren’t making 260k

The 50th percentile in the Houston market would be making 10% more than my market, so right at 175k

I understand now where you're coming from. I haven't had that experience in the 3 different industries I've been in, but I do know there are those that have CEOs that treat audit like what you're describing. Had a friend work for RTA and they viewed IA as a thorn they were required to have.

You were doing UA advisory work at accounting firm?

I would go public external audit suck it up for 2 years then go into accounting for company

I almost stayed IA too long and couldn't get out

20 years of why don't you do x gets old.

I don't think I could ever go back to IA

Also if you aren't in a Houston or Dallas what publicly trades companies are there that have to have IA

AI is stupid. They are doing all they can to take jobs/careers from people so we become dependent on the gov.

Public accounting will require a CPA before you get to management level (ie, if you are an audit senior without a CPA yet, you will be counseled out after a couple of years). If you want to stay in public audit sphere, you need to start studying.

rubbish...

a machine is better at accounting than a human...Its not so good with a patient compared to an actual human, who then directs the machine where to go/do

Nola. I’ve been looking at everything including remote work. Most of my experience is in SOX controls testing, ITGCs, and risk and compliance for medium sized companies.

You SHOULD be able to find the same level role in another big 4/consulting firm. You're not that senior in your career that roles are few and far between like a director or above role. Staff/Sr staff roles are a dime a dozen. Contact a recruiter.
