I'm already cringing even prior to reading some of these responses.

Other than a Walmart greeter, I'm looking for possible job ideas for my mom. The pay is irrelevant. She's always been a people person, loves to talk, and is generally a happy person. We've got to find her something so we can get her out there and socialize a bit.

Going downhill since dad passed away and she had a surgery or two. 63 years old, no fkn pics.

Serious response: Williams Sonoma.

Employees get a 40% discount at WS, Pottery Barn, and West Elm.

After my sister and I moved out for college, my mom worked the holidays there and enjoyed it.

Now my aunt, who recently retired from being a plastic surgeon, works there to fill some of her time.

kind of don't believe that, but I do know of some highly skilled folks to have taken jobs(when $ is not a factor,) just because it seems like fun

The title made me do the same.

My mom and her friend started a non-profit where they make crafts and things for home improvements for the less fortunate. Keeps her busy.

Since she's upbeat and money isn't relevant, what about volunteer work at hospitals or nursing homes? A lot of patients have no family, or at least get few visitors. At nursing homes, especially, a lot of the old folks have great stories to tell and love to have someone just listen. Or there's always the gift shop volunteers at hospitals.

Doctor/dental/medical offices may need counter help, if she wants actual scheduled work hours.

Florist shops needs extra help sometimes during holidays.

Tax offices need receptionists the first part of the year, retail shops need help with back to school and Christmas. Both offer a lot of "meet the public" opportunities.

Council on Aging sponsors bingo and other activities where she could meet people and enjoy herself.
