It’s becoming more and more common. For two reasons. First, the company doesn’t have to carry PTO on its books. Second, data suggests employees actually take less time off but feel better about their employment situation when they don’t have a limit.

Probably that the compensation is heavily based on commissions. You can take off whatever time you want but it's really not paid vacation. My company is like that, our PTO is based on the small base salary not total compensation. The base salary is only 15% of what we make roughly. So you get fricked if you take time off.

Commissioned jobs pay more generally speaking. Guaranteed salaries make for a less stressful life imo. Pros/cons for both.
