Job Board: Jobs in the Gulf South for someone with a masters in physics

My SO really wants us to move back closer to family after I'm done with grad school. At first I wanted to find a job somewhere else, but I do really like the idea of being close to our friends and family and of course having the opportunity to duck hunt and go to LSU games. So that means finding a job in either Louisiana, Texas, or Mississippi ideally.
The issue is that many of the jobs that specifically ask for a "physics degree" aren't really in that area. I realize I'll probably have to go a bit outside my major and I'd probably be qualified for many engineering positions. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any companies or industries in these areas that have been known to hire physics graduates. For reference my BS is in physics with a concentration in MechE and my MS will be in applied physics.

Well you didn't answer the most important question. What industry/type of job did you have in mind when getting that degree?
Or are you the point of "any job that requires a degree in physics"?

Yup, I've seen a few job listings in the Houston area that I'd be qualified for.
Haven't looked around Huntsville yet, but the prospect of living in Houston sounds much better than Huntsville.

I started off on this path with something in the aerospace industry in mind. I'd still love to work in that industry, but I'm honestly open to any type of job where I could put my skills to work and make a good living.

The Naval Research Lab, Naval Oceanographic Office and Naval Meteorology & Oceanography Command at Stennis hire physicist.

You'll notice it's an open ended job announcement. That's because they are always hiring if the right person comes along. A MS in physics should start around the GS-12 level and go up from there based on experience.
