I guess being from Over the Mountain Birmingham the only way we knew someone was Jewish or Greek/Lebanese orthodox was how many cousins they had at random house parties. Never came up in idle conversation.

had a couple of roommates from New York at LSU, that's the first time I'd ever heard the term Jew used as a derogatory term, I lived in Palm Beach County Florida for a long time, which is a lot like living in NY, NJ, and it was a huge thing, Jews were in your face about being Jewish, especially around Christmas, anything and everything could offend them and they wanted everything catered/customized to meet their Jewishness, they had no problem, however, in taking Christmas bonuses or paid Christmas days off

Most folks in the south honestly don’t give a crap if someone’s Jewish or not .
That doesn’t make them instantly evil or genicidal trash like the folks up north automatically think of them

there was always some petty sniping from hippies/liberals about LSU athletics, one "scandal" was kind of funny and I think it even made the yearbook, there was a rumbling about the food being served in Broussard hall being so much better and of higher quality than in the regular student dorms and one of the hippies made a big deal out of how greasy the chili Mac was in the dorm cafeterias and they even interviewed Charles McClendon about it, he went and tried it and he said that he thought it was just fine although he preferred his chili mac a little on the greasy side, so everyone called him Coach Chilly Mac for a while

They are all over. A few of my profs at State were like that. They all went to NE schools and turned up their noses at football Saturdays. Thing is when you get in the real world, those people are like animals raised in captivity. They cant survive when taken out their protective environments.

Not sure this is anything new.
Tulane has been the Jewish safety school for years and southern colleges in general provide a better bang for the buck than eastern ones unless you are at a high prestige one like an Ivy.

Most of them go to South Florida or Atlanta because those areas have high concentrations of Jewish people.
