Every day of my life I get asked "where did you go to school?" And they don't mean college. It's a very common question when talking to people.

Any more information on the threat? Has it been handled?

Every time I run into people from New Orleans it’s always the first question

If they used a standard phone a bomb threat is credible enough to check for IMEI number and really locate the phone.

Supposedly it was a note that was left at the school. They said they are working with agencies on fingerprints and other forensics to try to determine who it was.

My nephew, who graduated 3rd in his class at Rummel, is in his fourth year in civil engineering at LSU. He made extra money tutoring his classmates in math, many who were Jesuit grads

No one ever said there aren’t smart and successful kids from other schools. It’s just that for every kid like your nephew at Rummel, there’s 10 of him at Jesuit.

If you really want to go the anecdotal evidence route, I have multiple friends who graduated middle of the pack at Jesuit and went into civil or mechanical engineering.

More anecdotal evidence. I graduated in the bottom 1/3rd at Jesuit and took 3 years of petroleum engineering at LSU. Switched majors because I decided it wasn't for me/oil industry was in bad shape. There was only a handful of kids in my graduating class that didn't finish college. 2 of them that didn't are also really successful.

My daughter texted that there was a bomb threat at Jesuit. My wife is freaking out because my daughter attends a "surrounding school" even though her school is nowhere near Jesuit. I'm trying to talk my wife off the ledge by telling her that it was probably a kid who didn't want to take a test today.

When was the last time an actual bomb was placed at a school?

Go check out the Bucktown All Stars Back to School Bash at Rock n Bowl. Women and Men all show up in their high school uniforms and outfits....awfully funny seeing them brag about their schools.

shite, I should go to that. Pretty sure I have my old Curtis band jacket somewhere at my mom's.

Why was the Rummel and Chapelle Christmas play cancelled?

They could not find three wise men at Rummel nor a virgin at Chapelle

that is funny.

this thread starts about safety concerns....yet there is almost zero actual news/information. impressive, OT. I love this place.

yes, i graduated from Jesuit. having said that, i am amazed at how quickly this topic was derailed. and to all of the haters:

Oh I could go on. I can’t count the number of engineers and lawyers that came out of my graduating class. For comparison to OP’s nephew, the kid that graduated 3rd in my Jesuit class went to Yale for pre-med.

My friends and I never talk about our Catholic high schools, regardless of where we went. We're late forties. I think that aspect of New Orleans is fading.

In BR, the NOLA all girls’ Catholic high school graduates bond together when we meet - it’s awesome if we went to the same school, but it’s good enough just to know you went to a NOLA Catholic school
