how long does it take to shave with a safety razor and how difficult is it? i am not trying to put in much effort at anything about 5am when i shave.

get something like a merkur 34c, some decent blades (avoid feathers as a beginner, they are sharp), a shaving brush and a decent shaving cream or soap.
enjoy the manly ritual.
i get as good a shave from a safety razor as a cartridge razor, plus the added benefit of much less skin irritation.

My DSC Executive razors do the job on anything up to 4 days of stubble with no issue.
I will also say a mountable shower mirror is a game changer for a nice, smooth, no irritation shave.

I’m a professional with the ability to grow a full beard for like over a decade and haven’t used a razor….possibly ever. Maybe once or twice.
Beard trimmer on lowest setting works fine. Shave your neck in between trims.
You’re a guy. Have a little stubble and be done with it.

You can shave fairly quickly with a safety razor after you get used to it. I agree with everyone else. It's the best by far. No pulling of your facial hair. It just cuts it.

All of this. I switched about 6 years ago and never looked back. Much better shave and so much cheaper than those multi-blade monstrosities that chewed my neck up.
