I think living in a small city that absorbed a massive number of domestic refugees has warped your perception of what life is like for the vast majority of people residing in American cities.
You live in one of the poorest, least educated, and most violent states in the union, and you’re assuming the rest of us in cities live in similar conditions. Sadly, you’re living in the exception, not the rule. My solution is to move. The national guard isn’t fixing your structural problems in Baton Rouge.

I never ran across that in my WWII history. However, there was talk he was monorchid/cryptorchid, but that could have been wartime propaganda - Britain was famous for that.
For example, it is solely because of British propaganda that we think of Napoleon (the historical figure, not our eFriend on Tiger Droppings) as short because of the differences in scale used in France versus Britain.
Napoleon was very average height for the time and surrounded himself with giant bodyguards, but the Brits tried to make it seem like he was 5'2" or thereabouts.
I suspect some of the Hitler stuff was just that.

I have only ever lived in the ghetto - NOLA to BR
And I have family in Memphis, Houston, San Antonio, the Rio Grande Valley, and even in New Jersey. My mom had a boyfriend that was from Wisconsin, and he said the crime in the big cities there was unreal as well.
I have visited many cities and the poorest, least educated areas seem to have the same common denominator.
I have been to many places that are better than Baton Rouge (or Louisiana in general) but you know what? It’s difficult to find jobs in those areas - and if you find a job - the cost of living is unreal - OR I have to live in an area that’s very similar to where I come from.
So I don’t think I’m living in the exception. Like I said in my other post -I think you have difficulty accepting the reality of what it’s like to live in a city.

I have lived in the urban core of Atlanta and Dallas for 20 years; in a small established neighborhood surrounded by gentrifying area right off downtown Dallas the last decade. Mountains of section 8 shite within a quarter mile in all directions. I have a crackhead that won’t die living and panhandling a major intersection 200’ from my property line for going on 5 years. I regularly have people knock on my door looking for handouts. If I leave my car unlocked on the street, it gets tossed. There’s like 1 murder a year in our zip code, always crimes of passion, not random acts of violence.
There isn’t a major city in America worth visiting that I haven’t spent time in over the last 20 years. I’ve also traveled to 15 other countries across Latin America, Europe, Asia.
All that said, I’ve never once felt threatened and never once felt like my life was in danger outside of a random encounter with a mentally ill man on a train in Atlanta very late at night many years ago. And I’m a guy who used to go into shite areas to buy drugs in a lot of of foreign places. My wife grew up in an elitist DC suburb with no crime and she at no point has felt unsafe in American cities.
Like I said, you should move and your experience will be enhanced. Turn off the media feed that is convincing you America is overrun with crime. It is not, and the data proves this.
