Just bumping this thread. It looks like their may be backflow into Clay Cut Bayou. Stay vigilant and update your status.

Just drove by earlier. The canal is as high as the bridge. Some streets are starting to have water slowly creeping in.

Hopefully it stays slow and has a chance to back off before getting worse.

Just measure again in Old Bluebonnet. Water has only come up tenths of an inch in the last hour but you can see a very weak current pushing back. Again, this is at the very end of Claycut Bayou so the backflow may be stronger closer to the Amite.

Buddy of mine just put this on FB:

quote:

Jefferson Terrace peeps, be aware that Clay Cut Bayou on the north part of our neighborhood is full up and starting to overflow into some streets. Landsbury Ave is pretty much totally swamped, but also parts of Danbury, Ridgely, and Hackberry on that side of the neighborhood are also starting to fill with water. The Cal entrance is the most full spot though not over the bridge yet, but its suddenly high traffic area because of the flooding so be careful and stay away from that entrance if you can. Floynell and Inniswold dont look near as close to topping over, but as Ridgely's slight flooding is near the Floynell entrance I'm sure that wont stay the same. Western part of the neighborhood is still fine for coming in and out and i dont think will be a problem, and the south part that is in flood zones isnt an issue either, with the Blue Cross lake not topping over and the streets all dry (although i didnt go too far in back of Bluebonnet Terrace so I'm unsure if the streets closest to the interstate dont have any water in them). Keep safe and updated about the water levels.

I'm in Bluebonnet Terrace and we're dry. Hopefully will stay that way...

I grew up on Floynell and knew both the of those families well. I wonder if I know you. We lived next door to one of the Rappollo's.

The creek through our park (BBT) handled all that water perfectly. After going down there and talking to hmeowners, the water in Jefferson Terrace is no big deal at this point, imho. It has risen a bit but looks manageable. It has held steady since noon. Looks good and I'm guessing no homes will be effected. If they are, it will likely be limited to those first few streets.

Mom's doing pretty well, but she's no spring chicken! My sister evacuated to Mom's house last night. Her house in Shenandoah took on water - not sure how much.

The canal on old Bluebonnet hasn't risen either. According to the gauge at Antioch, the Claycut Bayou has remained at a steady level for four hours. Hopefully that means the crest on the Amite has passed.
