Always find it interesting how people pay attention to these scripted, highly produced bloviations by a fictitious character as meaningful.

To protect our own interests there.

The countries he says "also have freedom" only have it by tradition, not by law.

No codified freedom of speech, assembly, or due process.

You are way way off bro. The Germans and Scandinavian countries standard of living is equal to a better than almost all American states. Their income is less but they have free healthcare, free college education, 4 weeks paid vacation, often free or subsidized housing etc. etc. etc. that along would add more than $75,000 a year to my income right now.

Go visit these places and see for yourself, they are significantly happier and feel sorry for us. They they were are all idiots

Amazing what countries can afford, when they don't have to pay for their own defense.

Europe would collapse, financially, if daddy USA wasn't their protector.

And the USA would collapse, financially, if we weren't their protector and their major import partner...or if daddy China ever stopped producing all our goods or called in our debt.

This is just wrong. The vast majority of EU countries have all those things protected in their constitutions.

If most European nations were US states, they would be about on par with mississippi and WV in gdp/capita and real income.

That chart should settle any and all debate.

Not because they can't, but because we're suckers and are happy to do it for them.

They do not, nor does Australia.

It is why hate speech laws are so easy to pass.

I mean, there is wrong, damn wrong, and then this

The US could isolate economically, considering our vast resource deposits. Europe needs the US far more than they need anyone else, including other Europeans.

Without the daddy US, all socialist/social democratic welfare programs would be eliminated. They would have to use that money on bullets, tanks, and political bribes to Russia

We would take a hit, then carry on after a bit. The fallout from your scenario is Chinese bankruptcy, not American

You act like that's being added straight to your bottom line

None of that stuff is free unless you are poor and don't pay taxes

Yo bro, take economics much? Free, free, free, free. All these things just materialize out of thin air. You're either a card carrying member of a teachers' union or your'e on the dole. Imagine all this "free"stuff for our diverse country and having even more deadbeats on the dole? At least the Scandinavian countries have a fairly homogenous society that still believes in work and carrying their weight. Wouldn't work here.

Same with a country like Japan. They have a strong cultural identity/national pride and allow very limited immigration so as not to dilute this culture. Half of the US hates the country and doesn't pay anything into the system already

That has not been my experience. The Swedes and Norwegians that I've met were super pumped that they could get a single Blue Moon for $3 instead of $13.

Free doesn't mean good. There's a reason all the rich people around the world come to the US when they need surgery. You also have no say in your methods of healthcare.
