Just started doing some reading on the Jean Laffite, The pirate who operated out of New Orleans in the early 1800s. Can anyone recommend a book/podcast/documentary about him?

ETA: other than Wikipedia

Has anyone ever found "buried treasure" associated with any of these legends? I know there have been countless history channel/discovery tv specials, but I don't recall hearing anyone has ever found anything.

He was a member of the Order of the Knights Templars and buried the Templars' treasure in St. Tammany Parish.

The Journal Of Jean Laffite: The Privateer-Patriot's Own Story

But keep a firm grip on your skepticism, and choose an outsider’s book next.

That’s the book. It’s 500 pages plus notes. Thought it was horribly written as it would jump back and forth in time periods from one paragraph to the next. Made it hard to follow

The Kilmeade book about the battle of New Orleans has Jackson as the central character, but goes into a lot of detail about Lafitte's critical role in saving this country from the British. It's a quick read and worth the time. If you are interested in Lafitte, this is a cool point of view to see him from.
