I think it should be moved just so it isn't going on the same weekend as Zurich

Zurich has been offered different dates but wont change because they fly in all their worldwide staff, rent out the Roosevelt and have a suite at Jazz Fest.

How bout they move Jazz Fest to late May early June?. See how much people want to be there. or move the whole shite show to another venue. Leave the track alone.

Wife and I attended many years ago. Hot as hell, but the rains came the morning we were leaving for the airport to fly back to Nashville. It rained so hard that the plans could not take off. We sat on the plane unable to get off until the streets were flooded and we had to sleep on the floor in the airport.

Never been back.

I found this out at the pro am. It was funny. They've been offered much bigger tournaments, but refuse to leave because of commitment to St. Michael's.

Most of the reason for the weather this year was due to El Niño. It's good where it is. Jazz Fest really needs to work on better preparation of the infield. Pay for possible drainage into Bayou St John, lay down wood chips or some material to better cover the ground.

completely untrue, I park between Orleans and Esplanade every year with ease. Worst case you walk ten blocks

It should be moved somewhere that's above sea-level and with lower-than-average rainfall.

Seattle would be nice gets average 38" of rain per year vs. 62" for New Orleans.

JF is the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. It's a 40 year plus event, is a world renowned, and along with Mardi Gras, is one of two seminal events in Louisiana. Maybe just stop being a pussy. Thanks.

Welllll that's not completely true. The New Orleans tournament has been on a rotation with two other events for awhile now actually....the PGA Tour has something to say about it for sure.

But you would be right in that Zurich is a rock solid sponsor and has a little influence with the tour....but not as much in terms of scheduling as you would think. It's mainly based on the April rotation for the most part which leads up to the Players....but the PGA Tour doesn't plan to let Zurich go anywhere if they can help it so their spot on the schedule is pretty secure

Better than the week before the Masters IMO like it was years ago!!

I disagree. It's rained pretty regularly for JF even in years with no El Niño. I think the weather and crowd size make it unsuitable for FG in May.

Then people would bitch about it being 95 degrees. It's an outdoor event in South Louisiana. The weather won't be perfect except for 10 days in early October--barring hurricanes, of course. Take raingear, or stay home. IDGAF.

Seattle is chilly, misty, and gray 10 months out of the year.

So much retarded in this thread.

First off, the Zurich is going to remain the same weekend as jazz fest. They were offered a different weekend by the pga, one that would actually get a better field. The organizers of the Zurich prefer to have it the same weekend as jazz fest because it becomes more attractive for their corporate sponsors.

Secondly, the weather this year is due to a cyclical weather condition, it is not a common occurrance to have nasty weather during jazz fest, this year was an anomaly, and moving it forward could have been just as nasty. Has everyone already forgotten that the entire state flooded not too long ago?

It's a 7 day event spread over 2 weekends. Odds are you will catch some rain no matter when you do it. A 2 hour shower on 1 day is normal, what happened this weekend was not
