I’m guessing we’ll start hearing more rumblings about football being played in empty stadiums in the next several weeks. The NFL is going to want to protect that TV money while not risking the backlash of gatherings. Probably why none of that mayors that have banned events through 2020 have said that includes football.

Good. Now refund all the money you were fronted by the food vendors.
The food vendors need their money back. They are trying to survive right now.
These are the restaurants and caterers that make New Orleans and the food in this city, what it is.

REFUND THE FOOD VENDORS!!!!

Mayor of LA has said there won’t be sports in his city until 2021.

quote:

Mayor Eric Garcetti raised the issue during his weekly briefing Monday with a group of high-level staff from several departments, including Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas. Garcetti indicated during the conference call that “large gatherings such as concerts and sporting events may not be approved in the city for at least 1 year,” according to the email.

The artists, as in the bands?
They bands don't put down money to play at JF. They get paid to play. No performance, no pay.

The artists, as in the craft and art people are in the same boat as the food vendors. The JF hits the craft and food people to sign a contact and half their booth fee in January. If you are going to be in, you pay 1/2 your booth money. These people need that money back - NOW! It is critical to their survival. It is the vendors money, and it needs to be returned immediately.

What did I miss that would make more sense of waiting until a week out to cancel an event everyone knew wasn't going to happen?

So like a month ago they postponed jazzfest until October.
Now today, they have cancelled it completely until 2021.

May not...

I know that’s just a statement from the Mayor and I haven’t read a proclamation but in the world of contracts, the word “may” has a lot of wiggle room.

The NFL is dumping billions into an HQ facility at that new Rams stadium. If the NFL wants games played, they’ll probably get the support from civic leaders. Still, might be empty stadiums— but they’ll play in L.A. if the NFL says play.

FQF moved to October which led others to believe jazzfest would do the same. Someone even quoted it earlier that they were "considering it" on a zoom call April 9th. It wasn't moved.
