The smart guys in power are never going enrich a performer. People who want to be famous are talked into giving up control of their finances in exchange for success and an extravagant lifestyle. When they die or when they are no longer useful all the wealth goes away. Understand the mechanism and you will no longer be puzzled when the famous go broke.

I'd venture to guess that he's on some type of blood thinner, which can lead to some pretty spectacular bruising with any type of injury. And the bruising isn't limited to the point of impact, but can expand as the days go on and the blood migrates.
That may be why his whole cheek is bruised.

Frugality might be part of the process. For example: when a struggling young couple saves some money to start a business. Eventually the money starts flowing and then frugality doesn’t matter.

I remember back in the day people would criticize Leno as not being funny and not being cool like Letterman because he wasn't an arrogant a-hole to everybody he ever talked to, but I used to watch him every night and I always thought he was incredibly likable and while he may not have been "edgy" like Letterman or a master like Johnny, he did a great job of just making The Tonight Show fun. Still though that bruise looks like a brass knucks right cross

I liked Leno on the tonight show but I don’t think his comedy is anything amazing. He also has his detractors because of the politics of him getting to host the tonight show. It is what it is.

Just guessing but comedy clubs rent apartments and/or hotel rooms for their comedians. He was probably visiting the other comedians bc that's where the club puts them up.
