Heck- you read the FQMD meeting minutes about what agency is supposed to provide the actual human being to manage placing and removing bollards and that no group wants to own the task so it goes neglected and not done for years(?) and you just want to bang your head against the wall

question whether he knew that equipment was there. He didn't get very far down Bourbon. I'm thinking he didn't expect it or do the research to know it was there.
I want to say I either read somewhere or heard it that the hood on the truck flew up and blocked his view. And thank god it did. I’ve seen pics where the hood is completely against the windshield so that makes sense.

LaToya deserves everything and every criticism she gets.
Kirkpatrick was appointed in November? 2023. She admitted she didn't know that NOPD had access to the smaller yellow things that were placed on the sidewalk at the foot of Bourbon after the attack.
Why didn't NOPD District 8 chief know of these? Surely he has been around longer than the Police Chief and would be more familiar with equipment on hand for securing the FQ.
Why didn't LaToya know of these?
All in all, I think Anne Kirkpatrick has been good for NO. LaToya not so much.

No one is talking about how ESPN almost certainly on purpose didn’t show ND run out with the American Flag and the whole Dome chanting USA plus the national anthem. They don’t want unity.

Could be. I thought that the hood damage was from the hit, but I have no idea of the facts on that. I've also read that he lost control of the truck before hitting the equipment. Whatever caused him to hit it was a good thing.

The problem isn’t NOPD or the mayor. The problem is radical Islamic terrorism in a free society a terrorist can always find a way around security measures. As long as peoplw in the West put their head in the sand about Islamic terrorism we will continue to have attacks Sure we can do better fortifying the FQ Times Square Wash DC the Boston Marathon military bases Christmas Markets in Europe etc etc but need to stop denying the real problem and it isn’t our police departments

Well, this New Orleans' elected officials in a nutshell, isn't it?
That said, Breesus' post was spot-on.
Certainly, city officials were negligent, but that POS would've just went down the road and found another target.
Islam is the real enemy.

100% agree,
But this guy was also a loser and ineffective and got lucky as he probably was one that shouldn’t have succeeded.
He failed at the explosives. He failed at burning down his Airbnb. If we had even basic security measures he likely would have failed or been incredibly less successful with his truck.
We all would’ve hated waking up to “man injures 9 kills 2” but if we had standard security in place that could have been the type of difference, for instance.
It can still be 100% on him but also acknowledge that it was a miss. If we forgot to put out metal detectors and someone walked into the dome with a gun we could still blame the shooter but acknowledge it was a pretty obvious miss in security planning

Not arguing with you, but it will never be acknowledged by the party that rules NOLA.
Biden said himself:

We must acknowledge what America’s intelligence community has already confirmed, and what Charlottesville and so many other communities know all too well: the most lethal terrorist threat to our homeland in recent years has been domestic terrorism rooted in white supremacy. We cannot ignore it.

I'm angry about all of it. I'm angry at the radical who did this. I'm angry that more secure blocks were not in place. The Mayor seems to be concentrating more on the Super Bowl and now very well.
They had barriers they could have used and might have been deterrents, but they didn't know they had them since 2017. Then, when the Superintendent is showing them in place, we see a news article that the company who makes them is trying to reach city officials because the barriers are set up incorrectly! That's just inept. It's after the fact, but it's ridiculous.
I don't believe there's a way to avoid all of these occurrences and evil people, but try harder, dammit.

I was there and there was no USA chants. There were UGA chants.
I think ND always runs out with a flag.

They have mechanical barricades on those streets that were down. And getting around those on the side streets isn’t easy with all the other obstacles.
I walked from different corners that night going to and from and thought what’s the point of those barricades if not used
I also felt secure because the LEO presence was on point. The failure was t with the boots on the ground but the leadership and infrastructure coordination

Yea I commented several times that night about the sheer volume of officers and cars.
We at times saw the former chief use stealth tactics and play up the idea that you don’t know who is an officer or how many there are. NYE Kirkpatrick wanted a shock and awe with hundreds of uniformed officers and hundreds of cars parked (many with lights on) to make it feel like you were overwhelmed by police.
Unfortunately, there was the tactical gap of actually restricting access. At the peak I believe the area was so jammed up with police that it may have been challenging to navigate through the cars (and swat bearcat at the intersection). As that presence backed down later in the night the gaps in the infrastructure showed up

When your president has numerous press accounts saying white nationalists or white supremacy is the biggest threat to America, what do you expect?

No question local leaders are incompetent although rank and file NOPD are heroes And many other things can be done to better fortify areas of the city but we can’t forget the ideology that will continue to perform these acts of evil. They are at war with us and have been for 1500 years

Trust me the pain he’s enduring now in hell for eternity is way worse than anything he could endure here on earth. He needed to get there as quick as possible.
