In hindsight, no doubt.
I just don't believe NOPD protect assets against terrorist day in and day out. They influx levels of protection depending on the event and (would assume) threat level.
Bourbon police presence on a Tuesday will not look like a Saturday. Certainly a Tuesday in August won't look like Super Bowl Sunday. NYE is probably heightened, but after 3am everyone was lax, there were 15 cops hanging around shooting the shite.

And nye/sugar bowl is an event that they would treat as homeland security and not just wrangling drunks

ETA: I’m confused the video says a neighbor smells smoke 10 mins after Jabber left his house. Which would mean it was before 3am? The FD wasn’t called until 5:18 or arrived at 5:18? Now to be fair it may have taken Nola FD 2 hours, idk. Or maybe the news reporting is wrong?
Eta2: do we know what time he arrived to the Airbnb? He seems very unprepared, which would add up to why his attack was well after midnight. He was hustling to get everything done to pull out. I don’t know why he wouldn’t have been basically ready to go when he pulled into Nola, but maybe he didn’t want to call attention to himself at his house?

I wouldn't think much of smelling smoke on NYE. Certainly wouldn't be calling 911 for it.
