They can always go the Gates route and "donate" to some charitable interest that will then "decide" to use his tech in their new ventures. All tax free, mind you.
Except it’s not cash free.
There’s a difference between cash and a tax deduction.

This is classic bored rich guys pump and dump
Create a new 'trend'. Attempt to drive mania like the beanie babies once did. Then laugh as you collect money from the 'little people' who are trying to cash in on this 'new trend'

Second, if you are participating in an auction why on the hell would you tell the world what you are willing to go up to?

1. they have "real" money to spend on frivolous things which most of us do on occasion just in-line with our personal net worths and disposable income.
2. Estavi was one of the first serious money investors in crypto so just like then he may have an insight that the average person simply doesn't and is willing to bet on something most people see as silly.
Both great points!
The first point is especially misunderstood. When the average person contemplates spending $2.5 million he can’t imagine it being spent frivolously. But if he instead considers it as $5 it might make more sense to hum, and it would more closely represent what $2.5 million means to this guy.

Hell, I don't even understand the concept of these digital clips and Tweet owning instruments. I don't see any future monetization potential but that doesn't mean there is not a potential big upside that I simply don't understand.
Don't know why you got all the downvotes. You are correct. This guy is establishing that there can be "ownership" of these things and that they have value. Just like you would pay real money for a First Edition autographed copy of a book. The poster just below your comment nailed it as well. If you "own" this electronically made statement then you can Copyright and control its future use. It may seem dumb but an arrangement of words can have value and be earned along with the concept they represent, that's established law when you write it down and publish it in a book. Why wouldn't it be the same electronically?
