I'm just now seeing this.

I've had chicken, pork and hamburger meat - on separate occasions - that spoiled when I went to prepare it - all purchased from Rouses on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge.

All meats were immediately put into my refrigerator after unloading them from my vehicle and all were going to be prepared within 1 to 2 days of purchase (and none were close to their "expiration" date).

I now buy my meat from other grocery stores, namely Alexander's and/or Harvest.

I have no agenda or axe to grind against Rouses. They've certainly invested millions and millions of dollars into the Louisiana economy and employee many people. I want them to be successful.

I'd rather Leblanc's than Rouse's any day. The grocery stores around Prairieville/Gonzales have taken a nose dive in quality, especially with the prepared foods, since Rouse's took over. The Leblanc's Frais Marche on Airline was awesome, and I'd eat there for lunch damn near every day, the hot bar, salad bar, sushi ain't worth a shite anymore, same for the one on Hwy 42.

Rouses prepared foods are not good at all. I go to the one on Airline Hwy. in BR. With Rouses, the highly overrated 5 Guys, and Zaxby's, there's no place worth a flip to get food from in that complex. I had high hopes that something good would locate there, but nope.

I mean it does sound kind of silly and lazy until you try and replicate something like Zippys salsa, Cane's sauce, Sammy's chicken marinade for example.

FWIW, nobody in the BR casual scene has chicken with as much flavor as Sammy's. And that recipe is actually a secret I found out. They'll describe it for you but won't give specs.
