Most of these jobs people were allowed to wear polos, so their elbow down was completely visible. Only 1 job did I have to wear dress shirt and slacks. What does that say if 30-40% of the public has visible tattoos, but 0% in white collar offices in my experience have them.

I don’t think I’ve ever been in an office with zero tattoos

Though I’ve also never worked in polo shirt white collar settings, only suit and tie

I think tats are really trashy. I don't have any. I prefer women without any.

I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit that two of my four kids are tatted up. Arms and even one on my son’s neck. They weren’t raised that way. Their mom and I have none.

My two oldest daughters have zero and likely never will. In my self-loathing I tend to think the divorce had a harder effect on the two youngest. They were 9 and 12 when their mom and I separated and were certainly the most rebellious. They are 23 and 26 now.

My son is a CET for the utility department in a fairly large sized city (200k population), and tattoos are fairly common in that cohort. It’s not looked down upon as much and probably won’t affect his career trajectory.

To be fair, I see quite a few fairly successful people with tats. It’s something I’ve had to come to grips with as a Gen X dad.

Why do you care what other people do with their body?

Mind your own business, Kevin.

My son probably makes more money than you do.

Regardless, he’s certainly not as much of an a-hole.

Are you proud to work for a company that judges based on looks?

Personally, I cannot stand them. I don’t have tattoos and never will. Professionally, they have absolutely no bearing on a person’s competence, talent, skills or work ethic. I know some remarkably talented professionals that have tattoos. If someone had judged them based on looks or having a tattoo then those companies would have lost out on a lot of talent.

So “typical” beating is your goal?

Without the tats, you might today be CEO of your firm’s biggest competitor.

I stand by my original “UR dum” diagnosis.

I have sleeves of tattoos, and I’m highly successful. I do wear a long sleeve button down shirts to work every day and only small fraction of people know I have tattoos and they don’t give a shite.
