Just got all of the African countries North of the equator. Gonna work on the rest and then try to piece it all together
Wow, you've done the hard part already! The rest is all pretty easy south of the Equator. Rwanda, Uganda, and Malawi + Eswatini and Lesotho are small countries next to each other you have to be cautious not to mix up.
If you've gotten the differences among The Gambia, Benin, and Togo already then this will be easy

I immediately thought of that

I used to always play map games on Sporcle in my down time. I can do the 50 states with no borders, and I can hit most of the world with borders, but island nations are where I’m lost. I used to be able to hit all LA parishes but I haven’t done that in a while, I don’t think I could do it now without practice.

Took me a while, mostly because of the islands and a couple that kept hanging me up. Gonna go eat a few more cherries and then go to sleep

mastered the map of Europe. Should I try to learn capitals next or move on to a different continent?

Africa seems easier than Asia

I agree. I tried Asia a couple of times and got cock slapped. I’ll have to work on that one tomorrow night.

What do you have - like only 10 minutes of downtime? Maybe you’re taking a more in depth Rick Steves type of approach.

In High School we had to learn where every country was, their capital, form of government, and major religion. Had a test where the teacher gave us a blank map and we had to fill it all in. That was the 1980’s, so there have been lots of changes in borders and names since then.

I will admit, I can't do Republic of the Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo. DRC is the larger one yes... but I just keep getting a bit lost on them.

You are right, the DRC is the big guy. It used to be called Zaire in the late 20th century, if that helps. Its capital is Kinshasa, and right across from the river is the capital of the Republic of the Congo, Brazzaville.
Fun fact: The DRC is the largest Francophone country in the world!
