The gigantic difference here is that the chickenpox, polio, mumps, etc vaccines you get at birth are actually vaccines.
The COVID "vaccine" isn't a vaccine. It does not protect you from getting COVID. When people started contracting COVID after being "vaccinated" against it, they were called breakthrough cases and they just kept coming.
The lefties will do anything the media/government tells them to do and believe it. Hence why they are "pro vax" and the right is "anti vax". A lot of people can see through the bullshite is all it comes down to.
Example: Many people are vaccinated against chickenpox, polio, measles, mumps, etc and have never gotten any of them. Many people are "vaccinated" against COVID and have been infected by it one or more times.

These weren’t overreactions, they were opportunities for some in the political class and government.
