It's Ridiculous to Support a Team When You Didn't Go To School There

I know a lot of you guys are sidewalk fans, but this aggravates me more than most things.
That makes zero sense. At it's purest form, universities promote athletics to build esprit de corps with their student base, the only people who have a reason to cheer for and remain loyal to a team.
Maybe if you teach there, also.
It's just too easy to say you like a team when you didn't invest money, or more importantly, time building memories that make you look back fondly on an institution. It takes the piss out of it, and waters down the whole experience of the rest of us.
While we're at it, it's also completely ridiculous to remain faithful to a professional team if you live more than 150 miles from that team's city.
Carry on, and act accordingly.

Well, you shouldn't have anything to bitch about then. Tulane doesn't have any sidewalk fans. Hell, most of their own students are not Tulane fans first and foremost.
