running it in their garage with garage door open

I have done that and will again. I add and box fan to send the exhaust outside.

It made me realize how important it is to involve your kids in all aspects of hurricane preparations

Could’ve been me. We had contractors one time accidentally fill the house with carbon monoxide from a piece of equipment. Some idiot kid neglected to open any windows or whatever. We all felt like shite pretty quickly and realized something was wrong. Then the monitors went off.

I’m a big believer in carbon monoxide alarms. They have the dual smoke/carbon monoxide ones.

I saw a testimonial from a fireman that found a family dead in the house. They had a generator in the garage, and the garage door was open. The fumes can permeate the drywall and kill you, according to the story I read. Can’t vouch for the accuracy of that story, but it caught my attention

My working theory is the electrical service was in the garage. They backfed the house. And in typical boomer fashion the last person to bed hit the garage down button. Or some boomer didn’t want it outside cause some darky might steal it.

It’s one of those things. I’ve never understood the “lock everything” people. My keys have been in my truck for 4 years. Never a problem.

Exactly why they give the stupid people all the common sense warnings because so many under 50 lack common sense....Coffee is hot....don't drink and drive....turn around don't drown...do not use a generator or charcoal grill indoors....wear sunblock..move to the interior of your house...stay away from windows, etc...etc. It's because many are too stupid to think for themselves...In other word, they are dumb shits........and just think, they are allowed to vote!

You are probably correct. I just wanted to pass it on in the event the story was accurate.
