You'll be working there with that attitude.
Not after I show management the logs indicating that you've been on Pornhub every day for the last month during business hours on your work asset.

Meh, even our CEO knows to wait his turn unless it's urgent.
Payroll and Bid deadlines trump everything around here.

Not anymore. I learned about that when I got caught at a college internship. Now it would just be TD.
That's not what these logs I've got right here say...

Oh, you were acting like a girl, sorry man. Anonymity, am I right?

Key part of your statement.
You really do seem to relish the bureaucratic power that you have though. See, I find that douchey.

If he's a real CEO, when is anything not completely urgent?

I can't speak for everyone in the IT field, but it's not about bureaucratic power, it's about workflow and controlling your work environment. If you just did every request that came in immediately, you'd have no structure and you wouldn't get anything done. It'd be a mess.

There's a difference between importance and urgency. The CEO's work is all important, but not necessarily urgent.

Every OT CEO I've been around would disagree.
Regardless of validity.

Why can't I ever just send it back on the first call?
Stop watching "pron" on your company-issued laptop and this won't keep happening.

This man gets it.
Imagine if Payroll or AP just stopped what they were doing every time someone sent in a check request that they deemed urgent.

But this is in no way unique to IT work.
I get the need for managing workflow, but if I handled my clients with such a myopic point of view and narrow-minded slavish attitude with respect to bureaucratic procedures, I would lose clients very quickly. There is no way I tell a large client that pays our firm a lot of money that their work will have to wait because they're number 5 in the cue.

It's not.
I'm sure you have a system of some sort (be it company-wide or your own system) that manages your workflow for you, and you can make decisions on what work actually needs to take priority over others. It's the same thing, users just really hate being told that their work isn't a high priority, same as your customers would. But there are usually bigger fish to fry than a single user's computer or small issue that they think is huge. The problem is most employees thinks that their problem is a huge priority when that's just not always the case.

Why dont you just tell me if there are any safe sites i can visit instead.
By the end of the day i have had my arse kicked by customers all day, sat in 8 hours of traffic, and realized my commision check is screwed.
I had dinner at a nice restaurant on my expense account.
I spent two more hours entering call notes so some idiot can look over my shoulder.
Then when i lay my head down on the luxurious hotel pillows, and realize i have to do all over again tomorrow, you suggest I should watch sportscenter.
F&$k that. Just tell me a safe site to go to that wont wreck this shitty computer you picked out.
