Anyone familiar with early 90s model Isuzu small trucks (no pics)? It is a 5 speed with less than 300k on it. I can get if for a couple hundred. I've read they are almost bullet proof. It would be a "spare" vehicle.

Appreciate any advice.

I would buy if it cranks and drives for less than $1000.

I had a goofy arse little Mitsubishi Mighty Max one time.
Strange little thing.
Got my broke arse to and from work when I was young.

Any running/driving truck is worth a couple of hundred bucks, period. End of story

I will never understand how Isuzu left this market. They had an exclusively SUV and truck lineup in the American market before almost everyone else. Trooper, Rodeo, etc.

Yes, they're pretty much bullet-proof. Knew someone that had one as a camp vehicle with like 250K miles. Would sit for months and always ran great.

My dad had a grey one and I learned how to drive in that truck. They are bullet proof!

Any truck that runs and can move down the road legally is worth that.

Trooper flipped over and killed people Rodeo was an ancient design.

They left the market to focus on medium duty commercial trucks and diesel engines. GM strung them along for a little while to appease the Isuzu dealers, but they only wanted Isuzu for diesel engine technology and they always planned to phase them out of the consumer vehicle market. GM hired away a bunch of Isuzu's diesel engineers (they came up with the original Duramax) and still partners with them for commercial trucks. GM settled with the Isuzu dealerships that shut down eventually.

TL:DR - Isuzu's consumer business got Saab'd by a bigger, more powerful company.

Bro-in-law had one. You could put a champagne glass on the engine, rev it up and not spill a drop. Had over 200K and flooded in Katrina. Great truck.

SAAB is another interesting one. Blatantly ignored GM and bankrupted themselves.

GM offered to sell it to the employees and the Swedish government. They didn't even want Saab.

The last generation Chevy S-10 and the first gen Chevy Colorado were both co-developed between Isuzu and General Motors. There was at least some cooperation between the two companies on compact trucks since the 1970s Isuzu PUP and Chevy LUV were designed.

Had two of them growing up. The 92 was a beast but had to redo the heads at 150k. Sold it for 1100 bucks with 242k
