Video of the weapon hurling a fireball emerged Thursday, sparking equal measures of confusion and amusement in Israel, even as Israeli troops and Hezbollah were locked in some of the most intense fighting of the war.

The six-second video shows Israeli troops looking on as the trebuchet — which largely disappeared from the battlefield in the 15th century — fires a flaming projectile over a fortified wall. One soldier is seen holding a fire extinguisher in case something were to go awry.

An Israeli military official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said the weapon is not part of the IDF’s standard arsenal and is believed to have been built by reservist soldiers stationed on the border.

I dig it. I mean calling laser guided bombs from an F-15 at 20000 ft isn't even sporting.

That is great news. I hope they wipe that terrorist infested area off of the map.

Well if I have to us a bow/musketeer loader to hunt deer some days to make it fair, then I guess those animals in the Middle East might be entitled to a day as well

It's used to burn off brush to deny Hezzballah cover and open lanes of fire.

I can't find the pic, but they were also using a bow and arrow to set brush fires.

They have reverted back to slinging dead, diseased goats over besieged city walls to try and poison the water supply

There’s an impressive full-scale model of a medieval trebuchet at Urquart Castle on Loch Ness.

It was quite the engineering and resource investment when they were invented.
