Seems like I read something when we announced the extra destroyers moving into the area that one of the main missions would be to protect the Strait of Hormuz. They were afraid of Iran pulling some shenanigans there to cause disruptions.

Only Chevron in Richmond, CA imports oil through those straits around 2.6 million barrels per month.

The word from Findlay, OH is that refineries might be making a little money on gasoline this summer but otherwise haven't been this year. Their profit is from diesel.

The fire is from two tankers which collided OUTSIDE the Straits of Hormuz. One had loaded in Iraq and headed to China. The other at UAE and headed to the Suez Canal, my guess is for Europe
