I know it's hard for you to imagine some people having firm principles and not liberal wishy motives, but some people don't run like scared rabbits over the thought of death.

I just think people underestimate how the will to live can likely frick up your plans to be defiant.
Sure, if I'm abused for 2 years by some savages spouting off about America and they take me somewhere with a knife and a camera and ask me to read some statement, there's a reasonable chance I'm going to recite the many ways why their culture is dying and will never return to prominence as they do me in.
But if I've been abused for 2 years, and then some credible opportunities for hope arise, which the mind wants to believe because my natural instinct is to try and survive, I can't predict that I'll turn down that sliver of daylight to remain defiant and ensure death.
