Wife was injured at work but received a paycheck from work while not working. She is salary but I was of the understanding that workers comp pays not the place of employment. Could the employment be trying to keep it hush hush to not file a claim? Wife is going to doctor Monday and the paycheck was a surprise but not sure how workers comp works.

You realize that workers comp is an insurance policy paid for by the Employer?

Not understanding why workers comp called and they told my wife that they said she was working last week when in fact she was home dealing with injury. Someone isn’t telling workers comp the truth and my wife getting her paycheck may come back to negate workers comp being involved. Am I correct in thinking this?

Yes I do but why is employer still paying her? She wasn’t working so I’m not sure what workers comp will say about the situation is all.

Why do you keep referring to workers comp as if they are some public entity?

No but might build bad blood.

Work would have to give her a list of the doctors she can go see. Should also have taken action immediately.

If they are paying her then the only question would be medical bills.

IF she isn’t likely to be injured long term then possibly work to get bills covered and not officially file a claim.

I’m an HR manager. Tell the WC company that she was not working. She’s not in control of them processing a paycheck? I’m not sure I’m understanding why you’re concerned about the truth.

What did she turn in on her time sheet? Did she take PTO? Is she paid direct deposit or did she deposit an actual paycheck? There's always a paper trail. Keep her emails or texts with supervisors confirming that she communicated she wasn't coming in or was directed to do so by higher ups.

She did. Called HR immediately after incident. Went to ER after the incident happened then a follow-up a week later. They told her to go to a PT to get them to look into issues. Workers comp is involved but out of the blue, her employer sent a paycheck. I know the workers comp notification hurts the business so I’m wondering if they are doing this to keep things quiet or will this nullify workers comp being involved. Don’t want to get forced to cover medical costs because employer paid her and told workers comp she worked when she didn’t.

If she got paid by WC then she’d be getting 66.6% of her AWW unless she hit the cap.

So if the company paid her then she’s getting more than if WC paid her. If they aren’t denying medical treatment then keep collecting more money.

Lol why? She’s injured and if she wasn’t working, she can prove she wasn’t working.
If she didn’t go to the doctor right after the injury, then that sucks.
Don’t quite understand the frick off.

Because she has never gone through this before and not sure what is the right protocol. Just want to make sure we aren’t responsible for medical bills that workers comp would deal with because work is making payments when it’s my understanding that Workers comp pays instead of employer.
