Yes and No. We were defending S vietnam or propping up their regime. But only half heartedly bringing the war to N Vietnam. I think it was really rules of engagement over the north and politics that brought about the US packing up and going home....I guess the US never unleashed the dogs of war on the North....

You must be completely ignorant of WW2, you’ve been watching too many war movies. Russia destroyed everyone in their path, if it weren’t for them we’d be speaking German. We played a very small part in the actual fighting in Europe. I would rephrase it to, Russia “saved” the world, if you believe it that way.

I wasn't there myself. But I believe America's industrial capabilities for waging war doomed Germany the moment Japan jumped the gun.

There were of course two powers trying to dominate the globe- not just Germany. People forget just how ruthless and savage the Japanese Military was, as well.
For all Russia endured during WW2, Russia was of no help in Western Europe, Africa, the Atlantic, the Pacific, or the Far East. I give them credit for what they did- but they wouldn't have achieved it without additional help.

The British aren’t winning that war without American help.
.

Of course not. And we wouldn't have won without theirs.

The British 8th Army made the Afrika Korp and the Italians their bitch in North Africa, with our and Free French help or course. But the 8th led the charge and was the hammer.

Also the Empire did a lot of fighting against the Japs in the China-Burma-India campaign.

Yes we would’ve.

That was our first action in the war, we were still trying to figure it out.

What Alexander the Great did is so singularly spectacular that it will never be repeated by any empire ever again. IMO, it is by far the most impressive achievement in history.

The devastating effect the Royal Air Force / US Army Air Corps had on both the German war machine AND the German people cannot be ignored, either. That had to be brutal beyond what many today can grasp...

Yes I think the RAF are the ones who orchestrated the 1000 bomber raid...

I'm not trying to knock down the USA but I feel people really downplay the importance of British Empire and Commonwealth troops during that conflict. Just my personal opinion
