The first presidents of the country (after Washington was basically forced into the role lol), never actively sought office. They let it be known to small groups of delegates that they would accept it if elected. Of course, that would never work in today's society, but it worked pretty well for us for a while.

I guess that's what I'm saying. It wasn't meant to be desirable. But everyone recognized the most capable man, elected him, and he was put to work.
