It's out! Car finally pulled from deep inside Mid-City drainage canal

NOLA.com

It has plates from 2007. Is this how long it's been impeding drainage in Mid City?

Why didn’t they inspect for blockage after Katrina? Wouldn’t it seem likely the drainage system would be clogged with random things after the massive flooding?

That would be a typical First World response.

NOLA isn’t in the First World.

This is so New Orleans. If there is a dead hooker in the trunk, then it’s the most New Orleans thing ever.

I bet some people are sweating tonight hoping the insurance company doesn't find out.

If you read the actual article it said the inspection sticker expired in 2007 and the car could have been there from 2005-2007. The article then said that they haven’t checked for blockages since before Katrina.

And why would they? Hurricanes that inundate a city with tons of water, very rarely move large objects in that water flow through the portals designed to carry said water flow.

Wait...sorry.

Reverse everything I just said.

Saw that photo yesterday.

There's more than one car down there.

Did they find a flip-phone inside? It’s probably Glassman’s.

Lootie

Jesus Christ, I have seen this photo a thousand times since Katrina and I NEVER noticed that extra beer in Lootie’s back pocket. I am just in awe of his resourcefulness. Cheers, Lootie! Go get your car.

Why has Lootie never come forward?! Where is Lootie, how old would he be today...does he know he is a Legend?
