I'm only 28, so obviously take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I'd have to say that at least in the past 100 years, this is the most divided our country has ever been, and I sadly don't think it'll get better any time soon. Dark dark dark times my friends.

The world is vastly different than it was before the internet but particularly before social media. Everything has changed so much in the span of 10-12 years and I don't think it's been particularly healthy for society.

Work with 2 people that are in their sixties, one 63 and one 64. Both said today most definitely and it's not even close.

He’s right because during Jim Crow and segregation the country was pretty unified in its racism and hatred now those folks are in the minority. So yeah he’s right we’re pretty divided. Stupid vs not stupid

If you think racism is the reason for the divide then you have already been brainwashed. If you think that the racial strife in our nation is not being pushed to WORSEN the divide then you are also stupid. But you are right that it’s stupid vs not stupid.

The political industry on both sides has been spending Billions of dollars for decades to turn us against one another for the sake of increasing their market share. What's new now is that the amplification and gamification of social media has made us not only addicted to outrage, but addicted to letting everyone else know that we're outraged.

I'm not sure how you put this genie back in the bottle and stop the downward spiral. A lot of people used to not be invested in politics enough for this to be so divisive. People just went on living their life and caring about other things. Social Media and the "you're either with us or against us" mob has made apathy a crime. I am shocked at how many corporations have taken political stands lately. It used to be understood that that was the quickest way to turn off half of your customers, now they fear not taking a stand more.

Racism is kept alive by race pimps that profit from it. It's been practically dead in the real world for a while.

Yea Bill Clinton went along with most of the first 100 days proposals (and other things Newt helped spearhead) which helped Clinton get re-elected, and we had 4 more years of Clinton. Thankfully Trump stopped us from having 4 years of another Clinton.

This is the most divided since the Civil War, but, it will definitely get more divided because the Left is not NEARLY finished persecuting everybody who doesn't overtly support them and advance their policies.

This is the New Left Radicals in control.

It’s not just the left. The right is just as virulent in its opposition to anything just left of a centrist position on any issue.

I'm just waiting for a new MKUltra to materialize. The last was during Occupy Wall Street. When you see a new trend of drug, you'll know shite it real.

I can remember as far back as 1966 and I mean literally see in my head the black and white, nightly Local and National news broadcasts like a replay of a YouTube video.

The Nation has never been so divided in my lifetime.

Sure, late 60's/early 70's, rednecks and such would have disappeared unruly hippies or burned a cross at a black church or residence. But those would have been isolated and specific instances and generally condemned, not an overall nationwide daily occurrence.

This past year we have had portions of the NW literally under siege from Anarchists, anti government, and the commonly termed BLM and ANTIFA militants. Children intentionally shot in the head for simply being the wrong race or ethnicity in multiple cities across the nation. Angry mobs actively seeking to disrupt common citizens daily existence in cities as far south as Houston, Atlanta, DFW, as well as NE and West Coast and Mid West (KC, StL, Chi).

Push is and has come to shove, now weapons are being wielded frequently. Buckle up boys and girls, it's really just starting to warm up and it's going to get really hot before things cool down.

I mainly blame the MSM. Especially under COVID their existence is threatened. They cannot get out and get their content like they used to, so they fan the flames in order to create content. Add in the terrible economy of COVID and everyone with a cell phone can win the video lottery of capturing the winning vid that every outlet will pay handsomely for so you have every Tom, Dick, and Harriet, out roaming subtlety aggravating and agitating to create the environment to generate views. MSM, and the nobody's seeking fame and fortune, has learned how to deflect and point to all sides on the issues to get those flames stirred up and keep them stirred up.

It’s the politicians that continually remind us that we are divided.,

Probably. The difference now is that politicians and the media actively promote division between black and white, left and right. Social media multiplies it exponentially. In particular, the rhetoric on the left has reached a point of hubris where they think they can impose control and censorship on those who disagree with them. It's a dangerous situation, and they've shown over the past four years that violence is a tool they are unafraid to use.

Yes. Things got heated in the 60s with the Vietnam protests and assassinations, but people were mostly trusting of the media and the political rhetoric, for the most part, was not as divisive.

The major difference is that now you cannot trust the media or the politicians.

Let’s put it this way. My 3 sons and I are ready to mobilize at any moment to defend the right.
