Is this the most conformist generation/epoch ever?

A few years ago, it was everyone using rainbow filters for profile pics, now it's the black squares. If you even question the "logic," you're guilty of thoughtcrime and will probably be turned in by a good comrade for two minutes' hate. At least in the 20th century, the Stasi, NKVD, Gestapo, etc. had to use paid informants to keep tabs on dissent.

Not really. The genesis of a lot of these movements have their roots in American counterculture.

It's because it's never been easier to be an "activist". Now all you have to do is change your profile picture or copy and paste a long sanctimonious status. You can make yourself look and feel like MLK or Malcom X all while on your phone on your couch.

We've had the talk. If they don't like what's for dinner, they won't eat. No more "fix yourself something else" nights. I had just bought them each electronic devices about $300 each. When delivered, they'll be returned.
For school next year, I told them no more brand name stuff. One was about to cry when I told her that if she "couldn't care less that a big business got looted" because they're not a "small business," she doesn't get to support a "big business." No more $120 Nike shoes. They're getting shoes and clothes from Wal Mart.
We're on prepaid phones over here, but they're gone too. It's going to be flip phones because they take public transport. I'm threatening to not give the oldest her 529 school money either.
They're smart kids but they're about to live like these people whom they feel sorry for. I'm mad at myself because I let it happen. They're not going to learn to love socialism while benefiting from my hard work, extra jobs, and financial sacrifice via capitalism.
Christ, what an a-hole. "You don't breathe right wing politics like dad? I'm going to make your lives a living hell!"
